The Battle for the Las Vegas Hot Spot: Aria Resort & Casino vs The Cosmopolitan
Las Vegas is a vacation destination for millions each year. Whether if people are visiting to celebrate a bachelor party, get married, relax, or gamble; Las Vegas is the place to be. Due to its popularity, Las Vegas is always thinking of ways to intrigue its visitors and keep us coming back for more by adding trendy day/night clubs, fine dining, and luxury hotels.
Two of the most popular hotel additions are The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas (opened 2010) and Aria Resort & Casino (opened 2009). At the moment the hotels are battling to be the “hot spot” of Las Vegas. Urban Navigator got a chance to experience each hotel within a two week time frame. Here’s our take on each hotel and who deserves the title of the Las Vegas Hot Spot.
The Cosmopolitan
As you walk into the lobby of The Cosmopolitan you get a sense of modern meets trendy. It’s not your ordinary Las Vegas hotel that focuses on the casino and a cheesy theme. You will quickly over look the casino as your sites are set on the pillars made of computer screens; that interchange some of the most vivid 3D color images your eyes have ever seen. As you walk through the casino you are overwhelmed by the amazing Chandelier Bar. The Chandelier Bar extends to three floors that are draped in luminous beads of “crystals” that take your breath away. This is a great spot to reserve a booth to celebrate any special occasion as a group.
This hotel is definitely for the party scene seekers! Everyone that comes to this hotel is not looking
to gamble, but to hangout with the beautiful people and party on a celebrity status. Everyone in Las Vegas comes to party at the Marquee Day/Night Club in The Cosmopolitan, which creates a long line to enter the club. (WARNING: Ladies bring your sexiest dress and stylish pair of stilettos, as everyone brings their A game to The Cosmopolitan.) Crowds of people shuffle through the hotel all hours of the night with a low number of people gambling in the casino. The crowd is Jersey Shore meets L.A. hipster with a posh twist.
I recommend The Cosmopolitan for ages 25 - 35, girlfriend getaways, bachelor parties, or anyone who wants to stay on the party scene from day to night. (Isn’t that what we go to Sin City to do anyway?)
We give the crowd a C- and the ambiance an A+.
Aria Resort & Casino
As soon as the cab drives into the entrance you can feel the luxury and elegance of the Aria
Resort & Casino. (I guess this explains why the cab driver took the expensive scenic route, maybe he assumed because I was staying at the Aria I had more cash to burn.) Aria Resort & Casino gives off a sense of modern sophistication with its intricate architectural design and overwhelming size. This hotel is made for relaxing, gambling, and Las Vegas show entertainment. You will find the walk to your room far, but worth the walk once you enter and the curtains automatically begin to open revealing a wall to wall view of Las Vegas. You will enjoy ordering room service, relaxing in the plush bedding and taking a bubble bath in the jacuzzi size tub. Entertain yourself by going to dinner at one of the hotel restaurants, witness the Viva ELVIS by Cirque du Soleil show, and top off the night in the casino.
If you are looking for the party scene, you may find this hotel a tad bit boring as people don’t
come to this hotel to hang out at the level of The Cosmopolitan. I recommend the Aria Resort & Casino to ages 35+, couples, and anyone who enjoys luxury at its finest.
We give the crowd a B- and the ambiance an A.
