Tips for Bad Weather Travel

A surprise snow storm had a major impact on Bobbie Young and her family's holiday trip to NYC. From extra hotel fees to sight seeing tours with angry tourist, check out Bobbie's tips on navigating a weather-torn situation:
Tips from Bobbie
1. Stay calm. Avoid being rude to the people you expect to help you. I have noticed that when things are going horribly wrong, it helps to be patient and kind instead of going crazy, then people go out of their way to help resolve your crisis and they feel good about it.
2. When planning your vacation, inquire about your hotel's bad weather policy. The "W" hotel was very expensive for us already and we ended up having to check back into the hotel when we could not get transportation to the airport. It cost close to $500.00 for all five of us to camp out in one room for one day. We were hoping for some kind of discount but no such luck.
3. Do the activities that are most important to you at beginning of your stay. We planned a day of shopping for the forth day of our trip, but of course that was the exact day all the snow and craziness came in. So we went all the way to New York and didn't do any serious shopping. That was very painful.
